Private Yoga: What You Can Expect

Why a private yoga session?

  • Do you remember your first yoga class? Or have you been wanting to attend a yoga class but feel intimidated? One on one sessions are the perfect place to start! You'll learn the fundamentals of the poses commonly seen in an in person class like pose names, how to get into and out of postures, how to breath in the postures, etc.

  • Private sessions will focus on specific concerns and areas of improvement - whether it’s working on strengthening, flexibility, or certain yoga poses.

  • Your session will be specifically designed to meet your needs. Sessions can be a mixture of stress-reduction techniques, therapeutic movements, power yoga, meditation - the sky is the limit!

  • Faster results. With one-on-one instruction I will be able to work closely with you to make the progress that you are wanting to achieve. In person group classes are fun, but with so many students in the rooms, it’s incredibly difficult to meet every students’ needs.

What can I expect?

  • Our first session will include an initial “intake” conversation that will go over a variety of topics that will help me to better understand how to tailor the session to your needs.

  • Mindfulness and breathing techniques.

  • Movement appropriate for your level of experience and physical ability.

  • Homework - you’ll be given 3-5 exercises to begin incorporating into your daily routine. Don’t worry, this is designed to NOT be overwhelming.

What are the benefits? Single session versus multiple.

  • Multiple sessions are strongly recommended to not only gain a rapport with each other but to also get noticeable results. Each of our sessions is designed to build upon the one prior (which is also why homework is assigned).

Session can be in-person or virtually. Mats and props are available upon request but I recommend buying your own.

My Yoga Story...

Yoga is not just something you go somewhere and do, it is a lifestyle. I have been a student of yoga since my first class in college over the summer of 2001. It has been woven throughout the fabric of my life ever since and in the spring of 2019 I passed the 10 year mark of teaching yoga. I hold a Yoga Alliance E-RYT 200, RYT 500, and YAECP. I have always loved vinyasa-style yoga asana because I enjoy the creative process of sequencing a class with poses that relate to each other and work to prepare the body and mind for the direction of the class - whether it's working toward a peak pose or focusing on a specific area of the body. The natural curiosity of what poses work where, why and when and how to prepare for more challenging postures inspired me to include unconventional (to yoga) techniques sprinkled throughout some of my classes. More than anything, I believe that breath is boss and so focus on the breath is a common thread throughout any of my classes. Any time the mind is focused, there is the meditation.

Always a student at heart, my desire to know more has led me to acquire many hours of training beyond my initial 200 hour training. I hold 100 hours of yoga therapeutics and recently completed 500 hours with Noah Mazé. My passion for sharing and inspiring others has added up to thousands of hours in teaching experience. This includes public classes, leading numerous workshops, and teacher trainings. I enjoy teaching publicly as well as the attention to specific needs of my students though private one-on-one yoga instruction.

You can check out some of my recorded classes on YouTube here. A small donation via Venmo or PayPal for any content that you are enjoying is appreciated!
