Aftercare Instructions

With proper aftercare, your henna stain can last 7-10 days, possibly longer depending on the location of the stain. The first 24 hours are the most crucial, so take care to read these instructions closely for a long lasting stain:

  • Let the paste stay on the skin for as long as possible, ideally up to 4 hours or more. Once the paste has dried enough to not smear, you can apply a 1:1 mixture of sugar and lemon juice to keep the paste moist. The longer the paste stays the better.

  • Once you are ready to remove the paste, scrap it off, do not wash it off with water. Avoid exposing the stain to water for 24 hours if possible. If you plan on being in water, apply a moisture resistant product such as oil (any type of oil: coconut, olive, etc) or Aquaphor before getting into water.

  • Once the 24 hour period is up you can continue support the longevity of the stain by applying a moisture barrier any time you plan to come in contact with water.

  • It is normal for the stain to be a light and/or bright orange color when the paste initially comes off. Be patient! Over the next 24-48 hours you will enjoy watching the stain deepen in color from orange to mahogany.
